Coffee grounds cannot be commercially composted, but you can try composting at home. Sprinkle thinly over soil and add some brown matter on top.
Alternatives
Avoid single-use coffee pods and use a french press to avoid any filter use. Buy coffee that has either a Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade, or Organic label. Coffee grounds can also be used to get rid of gophers by placing the grounds in the burrows. Resuable coffee filters made of fiber are available for purchase at the Ecology Center
