If the air conditioner is in good shape, you should try to sell or donate. The Berkeley Transfer Station does accept air conditioners at 1201 Second St. Berkeley CA 94710. Handling rates may apply. Appliances using a refrigerant/coolant need special handling, and are generally considered Hazardous Waste. Please see the StopWaste.org and Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Program web sites or call the Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Hotline at 800-606-6606.
