Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization, founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us. Slow Food works around the world to protect food biodiversity, build links between producers and consumers, and raise awareness of some of the most pressing topics affecting our food system.

NEC's mission is to promote understanding of the relations between people and the biosphere and to conserve, protect and celebrate terrestrial, aquatic and marine ecosystems of northern California and southern Oregon. Educates, activates, and when necessary litigates on behalf of the Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion. Provides environmental information and referral services and operates a library open to public. Publishes monthly Econews.

CUSP was founded in 2012 to revitalize the urban streams movement in California by members of the Urban Creeks Council. The partnership is a project of the Earth Island Institute and administered though a Statewide Steering Committee, Sacramento Urban Creeks Council and Santa Barbara Urban Creeks Council, and approximately another 150 partners statewide.

The Clean Seas Coalition is a growing coalition of environmentalists, scientists, California lawmakers, students, and community leaders pushing California to strengthen laws reducing trash in California’s seas and on beaches. The purpose of the Coalition is to act as an informal clearinghouse for diverse efforts aimed at making the recommendations of the Ocean Protection Council relating to marine debris a reality, and to increase public awareness of the serious environmental impacts of disposing of trash and plastic waste in the Ocean.

Provides the following services — CREDO Mobile, CREDO Long Distance or the Working Assets Credit Card — and sends donations to nonprofit groups working for peace, equality, human rights and the environment.

Each year, ZWY USA organizes one of the most comprehensive and informative youth conferences dedicated to zero waste and environmental stewardship in the state of California. The Zero Waste Youth Convergence is well known for its educational and strong activist oriented presentations, sessions, and discussion offerings since 2012. It attracts over 200 high school, college students and young professionals from Northern California and beyond. 2020 Convergence: March 14th at the Laney College in Oakland.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation provides grants for projects in the United States and U.S. territories that advance our mission to improve the health and health care of all Americans.

Transition Berkeley brings neighbors and community members together to build a more equitable, sustainable, self-reliant future for Berkeley. They envision a strong, diverse local economy, with greatly reduced dependence on fossil fuels, and a healthy, cooperative, rewarding community life. They follow the Transition Model, which aims to build scalable microcosms of resilience (Transition Initiatives) able to withstand severe energy, climate or economic shocks while creating a better quality of life in the process.
